Advice On Choosing Car Insurance

Price? Well there are many more important features to remember when choosing your next policy. Here are a few of the main points.

  1. Cost – try to get as many quotes as possible, car insurance quotes in the UK can vary enormously from one supplier to the next. Many suppliers have a targeted population, for example some companies will target women drivers, others students and many will only insure safe drivers (drivers who have a maximum no claims discount)
  2. Quotes – Comparing only the cost of the quote can be misleading, try to take into account the overall value of the quote and not just the price. What is the excess payment on each policy? Is there a hire car or courtesy car available for you? Is legal protection included? All of these items affect the cost, consider these when applying for quotes.
  3. No Claims Discount – For every year that you are insured ,are the main driver of the vehicle and do not make any claims you will be rewarded with 1 years no claims discount, up to a maximum of 5 years. When you receive the 5 years NCD you will be eligible for a discount of up to 60% depending on the car insurance provider.
  4. Car Insurance Excesses – An excess is the amount of any claim that you make which you are liable to pay. In general, the higher the excess the lower your car insurance quote will be.If the claim was an accident which was not your fault then you may be able to claim this figure back.
  5. Women Drivers – Car insurance companies are not guilty of being sexist, women drivers are statistically safer drivers, making less claims than men. There are a few companies that target women drivers because of this.
