Where should you head on your holidays?
Whilst most of us are trying to make cutbacks wherever possible in the current difficult financial situation, most of us do not want to give up our annual treat of some time away on holiday. For many, this is the one time that they get to relax as well as to spend time as a couple of family without the hassles of everyday life and work, and holidays away from all of the hustle and bustle of regular routine has become important to the well being and happiness of many people.
However, money is tight for most of us, and whilst we may not want to give up our annual holiday many of us will have to make some form of sacrifice such as choosing a different destination or going for a shorter period of time. There are also other things that have to be considered. For example, until recently going to somewhere like America was great for us Brits because we got around two dollars to every pound, leaving us with plenty of spending money. However, the exchange rate has now plummeted, and in addition to this the strength of the sterling against the Euro has also plummeted.
Understandably, this has put many people off going to places such as the United States and Europe. Many are now opting instead for other destinations that they may not have considered previously, such as Mexico, Egypt, Israel, Iceland, Croatia, and others. And the good news is that there are some good bargains to be had on deals such as this, particularly at the moment when many major airlines have slashed their prices in order to get people to book up early.
So, if you do not want to miss out on your yearly vacation but you don’t want to clean out your bank account then you need to think ahead and start making plans for your holiday as early as possible. Have a think about the alternative places that you could go where the weak pound wont have such an impact on your spending. Also, check out the deals available from the various airlines and holiday companies that are slashing their prices at the moment, as these prices could go back up at anytime, especially if the cost of fuel rises again.

One official said: “Over the past few years we have seen travellers becoming more adventurous and travelling further afield and this will continue in 2009 as non-Eurozone countries will offer very good value for money – often at very high standards. But when travelling to these destinations, it is very important to check Foreign Office advice and ensure you make sure you see a health professional who will recommend what vaccinations you may need and what precautions you should take.”
