Why Are Female Car Insurance Quotes Cheaper Than Men?
As every man likes to remind his woman, women cannot drive as well as men can. Call up a UK insurance company, or get a UK car insurance quote online, however, and the cost of the car insurance premium for exactly the same car is likely going to be cheaper for the woman than the man. So, if woman cannot drive as well as men, how can that be so?
The Myth
First of all, it is a myth that women cannot drive as well as men. Many women actually drive better than men. It is amazing, living in the 21 st Century that some men seem to believe that gender has an effect on someone’s ability to drive!
Cautious
Men are more reckless than women. This is not necessarily aimed at driving in particular, but in every day life men take more risks than women do. Now, apply that to a driving scenario and it is easy to see that if men are more willing to take a risk, there is more chance that they’ll be involved in an accident.
Cost

Respect of the law
Strange as it may seem, women drivers have far more respect of the UK traffic laws than men do. They are less likely to be caught:
- driving over the speed limit
- driving drunk
- driving recklessly
Combining all of these factors means that women are less likely to come before the courts and get points added to their driving license or even a driving ban.
Distance
Unlike men, women rarely like to drive their cars for long distances out of town – preferring instead to go by train or plane. Men, on the other hand, like to travel in their cars over great distances. While you could make an argument for the case that this provides experience, car insurance companies do not like drivers who drive vast distances each year and penalise those that do.
As these are all important factors in determining the cost of your car insurance premium, chances are if you have two named drivers for exactly the same car – one a man the other a woman – the male proportion of the car insurance premium is going to be higher than the female portion of the car insurance premium.
