BT changes times for free calls

Many people that are with the communications giant BT have packages that allow them to make free evening calls so that they can get better value for money depending on when they tend to make most of their calls.

However, many have been angered by BT after it emerged that the company was changing its mind on when the ‘evening’ officially started. At present free calls can be made from 6pm but BT has decided that the evening does not officially start until 7pm and will change its free call packages accordingly.

According to reports the communications giant is planning to change the time when free calls can be made from April this year. Ten million customers have BT packages that include free evening calls, and most will not be happy with the fact that they now have to wait another hour before they can make calls that are free.

Letters have been sent out to customers by BT to advise them of the changes, but have already caused anger amongst some users.

Some customers have written to financial advice companies to make complaints about the changes that BT has made to the contracts, and there has even been a Facebook campaign set up to protest.

It is thought that BT could end up losing a lot of customers over its decision to change the time when evening officially starts, and already some customers are threatening to look for an alternative provider because they are angry about the action that has been taken by BT.

One customer stated: ‘BT have no interest in their customers, the announcement was completely underhand. They act like a dictatorship, and it’s going to infuriate millions of customers. I’m not happy with what BT is doing and am now seriously considering changing my provider.’
