A recent report has suggested that the effects of the ongoing global credit crunch is resulting in many of us losing sleep through worries over our finances and our futures.
The recent poll found that almost half of people in Britain were getting a worse night’s sleep now that during the same period last year, showing how the credit crunch is affecting our well being and state of mind.
When the survey was carried out around 49 percent of people responding said that they were getting worse nights’ sleep this year compared with the same period last year, with 35 percent claiming to have lost one hour’s sleep a night because of the worries caused by the global credit crunch and another 14 percent claiming to have lost two hours’ worth of sleep a night. The sleepless nights seem to be affecting men more than women, according to the poll.
As part of the survey one thousand people were questioned, and over 50 percent of these people said that it was money worries that were keeping them awake and stopping them from enjoying a good night’s sleep. The age group that seemed to be suffering the most when it came to anxiety over finances was the 25-34 age group. Over 60 percent of people in this age group said that money concerns were keeping them awake.
Over 30 percent of those responding to the survey said that they were worried about being able to pay their heating bills, and over 25 percent were worried about being able to cope with the cost of shopping. It was found that 15 percent were worried about paying their credit card bills, and another 15 percent were concerned about paying their rent or mortgage.
