Tips to make your money go further

In the current financial climate it has become increasingly important to most consumers to find ways to make their money stretch that little bit further, but it is not always easy to find ways to do this. However, there are a number of tips that could help you to make the most of your spending money, which could mean that you get to cut back on everything from your weekly or monthly shopping bill to the cost of entertainment and going out.

When it comes to shopping there are a number of ways in which you can make your money go that little bit further. Many stores these days operate loyalty card schemes, where you can earn points or rewards simply by doing your shopping in the normal way.

In many cases, you will be able to earn bonus points or rewards with the purchase of certain products, so these are well worth looking out for. Try and sign up for loyalty cards in all of the places you tend to shop regularly. Many retailers offer these cards, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Boots.

You will be surprised how quickly you can accumulate points on your loyalty cards, and once you have enough points you can get money off the purchases that you make with that retailer or you can make your points go even further by exchanging them for vouchers or rewards, such as money off holidays, cinema tickets, and tickets for days out, with some retailers. Remember, you are going to be doing your shopping anyway, so it is well worth making the effort to sign up for a rewards card so that you can get a little something back for your custom.

Also, if you clear your balance every month, a rewards based or cash back credit card is a great way to earn additional income if the store in question does not have a loyalty program.

Another way in which you can save on your shopping is to do some of your shopping at discount retailers rather than the big name retailers. You will find plenty of smaller retailers that sell everything from discount household goods and groceries to cut price toiletries and beauty products, and whilst the choice may not be as great as with the larger retailers there is bound to be a decent selection of goods that you can get from these discount stores that could save you money each month.

When it comes to eating out you could also enjoy making savings, and it is a good idea to check the websites of various eateries before you go, as many offer special discounts and offers on a regular basis, such as Pizza Hut, Bella Pasta, and many others. You could even pick up a voucher offering you 50 percent off your bill, and if you are dining out as a group or family this could save you a huge amount off your bill.

Likewise, many clothing retailers and entertainment retailers also offer periodic discounts and offers, so keep a regular lookout on the websites of those that you shop with regularly to see whether you can save some money.

Finally, don’t underestimate the savings that can be made with coupons. You can find these in all sorts of places, from the packaging of products that you have purchased to magazines and online. If you see coupons for products that you buy regularly make sure you keep them and use them, as they all add up and could snip a tidy sum from your end shopping bill.
