Dont Bust Your Budget on Your Next Night Out
According to popular financial website This is Money the cost of going out for the evening, especially for a family, have risen quite high in recent years so that it is often a real treat to take the family to a show.
Tickets for a performance in London’s West End, for example, could run a family of four upwards of £250 and then you have to include the cost of a snack or a meal in a restaurant to round off the night. If you want to attend the Beyonce show in Manchester in November, you will have to shell out £100 for one ticket.
Depending on your taste in entertainment, the costs of a night out could run even higher. If you are a fan of classical music, taking in performance at the Royal Opera House would cost about £200. Even a night at the cinema is not as cheap as it once was with tickets costing on average about £7 or £8 each or as much as £10 in London’s West End.
There are ways you can enjoy that night out together without having to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Buying tickets online is convenient, but there are often hidden fees that bring the total price to more than you expect.
If you purchase a £45 ticket, for example, at the O2 to see the Spandau Ballet, you will be charged a £6 fee bringing the cost of each ticket to £51. Buying at the box office is cheaper. There is also the possibility that when you purchase your tickets online, they are not real and you lose your money in a scam.
Getting in on the previews of shows is another way you can save on your night out. These are the performances that take place before the show is reviewed by the Press. One example of such savings is the cost of attending Othello at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre. The preview shows cost only £4 per ticket but after the reviews, the cost rises to £17 per ticket.
Take along some friends with you when you plan to attend a performance. Booking a group of seats is cheaper than paying for individual seats. A family of four attending the musical Billy Elliot can expect to pay £100 for four seats, whereas buying individual tickets cost £37.50 each.
Better still try to form a group of ten or more people and receive an even better rate. If you are a Friend of the Theatre Royal Newcastle upon Tyne, then you can get a 20% discount on all your tickets by paying an annual fee of £32. Even the concessions are discounted for such friends when you pay the annual fee of £25.
Do you go to the movies or the theatre a lot? Well you can benefit from this by getting reduced prices as well. By purchasing the tickets for several performances in advance, you can enjoy discounted rates, such as a 10% discount by booking three or more concerts at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
Watch out for deals and special rates and the possibility of cheap or free tickets to various events. Many places have cheaper rates for students and seniors at various websites.
