Over recent years consumers have become increasingly reliant on the various voucher and loyalty card scheme that have been made available by a variety of supermarket giants, and these schemes have enabled consumers to save money or earn rewards when they shop at the supermarket and have points put onto this loyalty card.
However, one supermarket giant has announced some changes to its scheme that will see consumers getting even more for their money.
Sainsbury’s brought in the Nectar card in 2002, and this has already prove very popular with regular customers of the supermarket chain.
However, it has now been revealed that the retailer is investing in a new voucher scheme that could enable consumers to save even more money on their shopping, and will throw down the gauntlet to rival supermarket giants such as Tesco, which offers a club card to customers enabling them to accrue points for money of vouchers or to put towards other purchases.
It is thought that Sainsbury’s has put aside tens of millions of pounds to invest in the new voucher venture, and customers will be able to get coupons tailored to their needs when they shop at the chain.
According to reports vouchers will include ones that allow consumers to get 20 percent off shelf prices in store, and the company is said to have been trialling the new scheme for some time.
Machines for the vouchers to be dispensed are to be installed in stores, and one official from the retailer said that this was a great way for consumers to save money. He said: ‘We know that half our shoppers take vouchers with them when they shop anyway and it’s a really practical way to stretch budgets, especially in the current economic climate.’
