A recent report has highlighted how, whilst many of the best bargains for Christmas may be available via the Internet, many consumers may be too nervous to take advantage of these offers because they are too nervous to use their credit cards online for fear of becoming a victim of credit card fraud.

The report showed that whilst some of the most cost effective and affordable deals could be found on the Internet around one third of shoppers were still too nervous to make their purchases online due to the risk of card fraud.

However, industry experts have been giving tips that will help consumers to ensure that they are using the Internet safely when it comes to putting in their account and credit card details, which will minimise the risk of card fraud and enable the consumer to enjoy saving money and enjoy the great choice and bargains that can be found online this Christmas.

One of the main ways to ensure your safety is to ensure that you are using a secure and reliable site, and there are a number of ways to do this.

Experts state that in addition to ensuring that the address bar starts with https:// or has a padlock sign on it consumers can also check for the ISIS (Internet Shopping is Safe) logo, or consult the online vetting service Shopsafe.

It is also worth using comparison sites to do your shop as you can then look at customer reviews regarding reliability, service, and quality, which can help to put your mind at ease.

You should also check the address bar of the site that you go into just to ensure that it is the bona fide site and not a fake site. One official said: “As long as you’re sensible and vigilant online you can often spot a fake. Bad spelling and grammar often give fake sites or emails away. Always double check the website address before you submit any details and look for any irregularities. If it looks odd or isn’t the address you’d expect it to be, don’t enter any personal information.”

  1. Accept credit cards online is now a must for online companies to continue to exist and stay afloat with the stiff competition that they need to deal with. Different business genre as well as different stores with different products and services now saw the need to adapt this payment scheme.
