With the festive season almost upon us once again many people will be looking around at credit card deals so that they have the credit that they need to make their purchases for Christmas.

There are many different credit cards on the market designed to suit a wide range of needs, and depending on your spending and repayments habits you can find a card that offers value for money and makes your Christmas money go that little bit further.

However, industry officials are warning consumers not to rush into taking out a credit card out of desperation, as otherwise they could end up paying way over the odds for their Christmas borrowing.

Recent reports have highlighted how a growing number of credit card providers have been offering perks and incentives with their credit cards in order to entice customers, so it is well worth holding out for a card that will really suit your needs.

Consumers are advised to first determine how they plan to make repayment on the card before trying to work out which is the best card for them.

For example, if you intend to repay your balance in full at the end of the month then you could benefit from one of the many rewards based credit cards that are on offer, where you can enjoy everything from air miles and loyalty points to cash back and vouchers.

As you will not be paying any interest as a result of making the repayment in full you can make the most of these rewards.

On the other hand if you are looking at spreading your repayments over a longer period then it is worth looking for a card that offers interest free credit on purchases for a generous period, as this will allow you to spread your repayments without having to pay any interest on your borrowing as long as you repay it in full within the specified 0 percent period.
