Credit card firms try to woo back customers

Over the past couple of years credit card firms in the UK have been turning away an increasing number of clients, with the global credit crunch seriously affecting lending levels and leaving many people with little to no chance of getting credit.

However, many reports have indicated that whilst lending levels are nowhere near as high as they were before the global credit crunch things are starting to ease off a little, and this has seen some level competition return to the market.

This rising competition has meant that more and more lenders are now looking to woo back customers through the offer of tempting freebies and incentives.

There are many different freebies and offers that are being banded around amongst credit card providers, which is great news for consumers as it means that they can get perks that really suit their needs, enabling them to enjoy far better value for money when it comes to using their credit cards.

During the credit drought of the last two years many credit card providers actually stripped away perks from their credit cards, but many of these perks are now returning as credit card companies vie for custom.

In fact, there are many different perks now coming back to the market, making it possible for everyone to find credit card perks that will suit their needs, Many are offering cash back deals, rewards points, and other popular perks in order to tempt customers. Others are offering free flights, vouchers, and entertainment.

The eligibility requirements for each card can vary, but the best thing is that in many cases the consumer can even ditch the card after receiving their incentive providing the balance has been cleared.

Of course, the people that will benefit most from these cards are those that will repay their balance in full each month, as these consumers will benefit from the value of the freebie being offered without having this counteracted by interest charges applied for paying the balance gradually.

It is, of course, important that you take the time to compare different credit card offers and deals, as you need to determine which is the most suitable offer and the most cost effective credit card. You should really be paying your balance in full every month, which means that you then won’t have to worry about comparing the interest rate – you will just need to look at the perks and incentives that are on offer.

You can use the Internet to compare the different credit cards on offer and what sort of perks are available, which makes it quicker and easier to get the right card for your needs.

Bear in mind that the level of rewards on offer can also vary from one card to another, so if, for example, the card is offering air miles you may find that some cards offer one mile per pound spent on the card whereas others offer two miles per pound spent. Also, remember that some of the cards will come with a minimum spend and there may be a certain period that you have to wait before you claim your reward, such as with some of the credit cards that are offering vouchers.
