According to recent reports there has been a rush in the number of parents that are keen to take out health insurance cover for their children, and this follows an outbreak of illnesses that have caused grave concern to parents.
The outbreaks that have led to the increase in parents looking to take out insurance cover for their offspring includes the swine flu pandemic and a recent E.Coli outbreak.
One insurance industry professional said that in the last month alone the level of sales for health insurance for kids had tripled as worried parents flocked to try and get extra health protection for their loved ones.
She said that part of the panic resulted from a lack of confidence in the National Health Service, which was leading to a rising number of parents taking matters into their own hands and sorting out health cover for their kids rather than relying on NHS treatment.
An official from the private healthcare giant Bupa said: ‘Although the NHS can provide excellent care, parents tell us they want to be able to choose a private hospital if they wish. Private cover also provides more choice and control over treatment – you see specialists and have tests done quickly.’
Consumers that are looking to take out private healthcare for themselves or their children are advised to compare different deals and prices in order to get the most suitable package without paying over the odds.
Some may find that a family policy is the best option as it can work out cheaper, but the best way to get a suitable policy at a low price is to compare different policies and providers via the Internet, which can be easily done through the use of a comparison site.
