Saving money on a night out

Before the global credit crunch and the recession many of us were able to enjoy a few good nights out, and although the cost of going out could often be high most of us were happy to pay what we had to in order to enjoy the chance to get away from it all and spend some time relaxing.

However, since the onset of the global credit crunch and the ongoing recession a rising number of us have had to cut back on expenditure, and this has also meant cutting back on going out for nights out.

However, whilst we all need to tighten our belts in the current climate there is no reason why we can’t still enjoy some nights out without breaking the bank. If you know where to look and where to go you can enjoy a great evening out without spending over the odds, and whatever your preferences there is something for everyone to enjoy even in the current recession.

Theatre

If you enjoy going to the theatre you will probably know that the cost can quickly spiral out of control, especially if you need a number of tickets. If you book your tickets online you may find that you have to pay a booking fee, which can bump up the cost of the tickets.

One option to try and reduce the cost is to buy the tickets in person from a box office or direct from the venue or get someone to do this for you. Another thing to remember is that in some cases tickets are available from a number of resellers. It is worth checking out reputable ticket sellers online to see whether one is offering a far better deal than the others, as this could also bag you a great deal.

Also, remember that the cost of the tickets can vary based on the day and time that you visit, and the seats that you choose, so try and work it so that you are able to go on a day and at a time that will not work out too expensive.

Cinema

For many people there is nothing quite like heading to the cinema to catch the latest chick flick, nail-biting horror, or edge of your seat thriller, but the cost of going to the cinema has definitely increased, making this quite an expensive option of you are going as a family or a group. However, there are ways in which you can cut back on the cost of going to the cinema as well.

Again, the time of day that you visit will affect the price, so if you are able to go at an off peak time you could save some money. Also, bear in mind special schemes that you may be eligible for such as student discounts or Orange Wednesdays, where Orange customers can two for one cinema tickets.

Eating out

We all love to have a meal out, whether it is with our loved ones, a partner, or our mates. Of course, the cost of dining out can be costly depending on where you go, but many eating establishments these days do special cut price nights and offers.

Check out the websites of your favourite eateries to see whether there are any deals where, for instance, you can get 25 percent off on a certain night. You will also find that many eating establishments now offer vouchers and special deals for money off, so keep an eye out for these and arrange your nights out around the times when you can get the best deals.
