With all that has happened in the banking industry over the past year it is little wonder that consumers are so nervous about where to put their hard earned money when it comes to savings accounts. This time last year saw Northern Rock go through its crisis, and many people flocked to withdraw billions of pounds worth of savings from the bank before it was eventually nationalised.
